Reikan-ji specially opens to the public only twice a year, spring and autumn.
It is well known as a place to enjoy both camellia during spring and red maple leaves during autumn.
I've visited there for the first time this year on late February to catch the beautiful camellias.
Once you go through the entrance gate, there is a water pot filled with various colors of camellia that welcomes your visit.
Here's another camellias arranged in a bamboo base.
Inside the garden, you can find over 100 kinds of camellias, ranging from the most familiar ones simply red and pink, to some rare ones that you probably haven't seen before.
Some of them had already felt, but still, they were so pretty as the green background of moss and grass brings out another beauty of the pink camellias.
You'll be surely surprised by the numbers of camellia trees inside the garden.
If you are a flower lover, this is one of the best spot to capture the beauty of Japanese nature in spring.
As it locates near the philosopher's road, I highly recommend you to visit Reikan-ji as well after exploring the philosopher's road with fully bloomed cherry blossoms!
