Here in this blog we would like to take you to the best 5 markets that we recommend you to go for treasure hunting!
Sure you would find something exclusive that you won't be able to find at any other places!
1. Heian-Rakuichi
Heian-Rakuichi is held every 2nd saturday in front of the Heian-Jingu shrine.
All the stuff sold in this market is handmade and there is also a workshop that is held for kids.
This is the best handicraft market that we can recommend for family with little children as there are Kyoto City Art Museum and Kyoto City Zoo around the Okazaki area.
Another flea market called "Heian Nomi-no-ichi" is held as well on every 10th.
If you are into antiques, don't missed this one as well!

2. Tedsukuri-ichi (Hyakumanben Chionji Handicraft Market)
This handicraft market usually called "Hyakumanben-san" is an market held at Chion-ji, a temple located right next to Kyoto University.
Wide range of goods, like clothes, dishes, accessories, pastries or jams, are sold in this market and most of things you can find here are handmade!
This market has been long loved by the locals with the name "Hyakumanben-san" and the temple gets really crowded every months as many visitors from both Japan and abroad comes to enjoy the market.
For those who want to take time looking around all the stores, little tip is to just to go there before 10;00, as you might be difficult to move as you want during the busies time, which I'll say around noon.

3. Koubou-ichi (To-ji Antique market)
Koubou-ichi is one of the main two antique market held in Kyoto, and said to have the longest history of any other markets.
Over thousands of stalls line up around the temple, and you can find some Japanese clothes sold for 500 yen and some antique plates that is sold over 10,000 yen!
Even if you have no interest in Japanese antiques. no worries!
You can still enjoy the market with bunches of stalls selling good Japanese foods!
Worth going just to enjoy sort of festive atmosphere of the market.
Here at Toji, Garkuta-ichi is also held every 1st sunday, so if you are visiting Kyoto in the beginning of the month, this on might be your choice.

4. Kamigamo Handicraft Market
Kamigamo Handicraft Market is said to be the most colorful market in Kyoto.
The market is held on the 4th Sunday every month and over 200 stores come to sell there handmade goods briging there own colorful tent.
Near the shrine, you can find a little stream called "Nara-no-Ogawa", so it might be nice to enjoy a little picnic with some foods.

5. Tenjin Market
Tenjin Market is the other antique market that is called the biggest in Kyoto along with Koubou Market!
